The GTA 6 news cycle just dropped another combo of clarity and chaos — so here’s our clean breakdown.
Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI is running roughly 18 months behind its original internal schedule. Despite that, Rockstar is still locked in on its current release window.
Zelnick emphasized that the team is prioritizing creative quality over deadlines, and that the delay isn’t expected to push the launch further out. In other words: Yes, it slipped — but no, the release date isn’t moving (for now).
Also, last week, the internet lit up with claims that physical pre-orders for GTA 6 were about to go live at Best Buy. Industry insiders have now confirmed that rumor was false because an Internal distributor communication reportedly shows Best Buy “got it wrong.” GTAForums moderators have since verified the source and confirmed the mix up, so no pre-orders — physical or digital — are going live this week.
Rockstar and Take Two continue to maintain that physical and digital editions will launch simultaneously, with no staggered rollout.
Our take? GTA 6 is still deep in production, still aiming for its target window, and still not available for pre-order anywhere — despite the noise.
Stay tune, noble reader. We’ll keep you locked-in when more GTA 6 updates drop.
