Xbox CEO Asha Sharma Outlines Three Stage Comeback Plan!

by L.W. and Ann Marie Barker

Xbox is gearing up for a long‑term comeback, and CEO Asha Sharma has laid out a clear, multi‑year roadmap to bring the platform back to growth and rebuild momentum. Here are the key takeaways from her recent interview with Android Headlines.

Sharma says Xbox is consolidating its priorities into four major pillars that define the first stage of the plan:

  • Core — Strengthen the Xbox platform, led by improving the console experience

  • Content — Take great games and grow them into global franchises

  • Creation — Turn Minecraft into the “world’s creator program”

  • Connection — Extend the worlds Xbox fans already know and love

These four pillars represent the first stage: returning Xbox to growth by the end of FY27.

Stage 1 — Return to Growth (FY27)

Xbox aims to stabilize its foundation and close the gap between its 200 million new players and its business performance, which did not grow at the same pace in FY26. Sharma expects Xbox to return to growth by the end of FY27.

Stage 2 — Turn Big Bets into Growth (FY28–FY29)

Sharma doesn’t reveal the specifics of these “big bets,” but confirms this stage is about executing major strategic moves and converting them into measurable growth during FY28 and FY29.

Stage 3 — Scale What Works (FY30)

By FY30, Xbox plans to scale successful initiatives globally and reach the halfway point toward its long‑term goals which include sustaining double‑digit growth in players and engagement while achieving industry‑leading margins.

Sharma’s plan is a structured rebuild focused on strengthening the console and platform, expanding franchises, empowering creators, deepening fan connection, making bold strategic bets, and scaling what succeeds.

Our take? It’s a long game — but one aimed at restoring Xbox’s momentum and delivering a stronger, more unified ecosystem for players.
