Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty 2026 is Modern Warfare 4 (MW4). Set on the Korean Peninsula, the game is also planned for Nintendo Switch 2—marking the franchise’s first Nintendo release in more than a decade!

The cover art features the familiar spec-ops squad, with the Korean character “사” — meaning four — woven into the logo. The campaign spans both South and North Korea.

In the campaign, players switch between three factions: Task Force 141, the SAS, and the Republic of Korea Army. The story continues from Modern Warfare 3 (MW3), with Makarov and the Konni Group carrying out false-flag operations to spark a global conflict. The overall tone stays mostly modern, while still introducing some futuristic technology.

MW4 will be the first Call of Duty title released on Nintendo Switch 2, in line with Microsoft’s commitment to bring the series to Nintendo platforms after acquiring Activision Blizzard. The Switch version is reportedly nearly finished.

Our take? This looks poised to be one of the most ambitious Modern Warfare entries yet—and a milestone moment as Call of Duty returns to a Nintendo platform.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (MW4) launches on October 23, 2026, for PlayStation 5 (PS5), Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC (BattleNet, Steam, Xbox on PC).
